Living Word Church Building Project(formerly Elim Mennonite Church, Cross Lake)
March 1, 2006 The Living Word Church is celebrating! They dedicated the new building on January 1, 2006 and celebrated two baptisms that same day. After a 2 year absence the Sunday School program resumed on February 19, 2006. They are planning to work with young mom’s, youth and see the new building as a gathering place for worship and community ministry. Through worship, education and service the sisters and brothers of Living Word Church are seeking to tell and live the gospel in Cross Lake. December 20, 2005 Members and friends of September 28, 2005 Due to weather and difficulty recruiting volunteers, progress on the new church building in Cross Lake has been slow this summer. Local volunteers and contractors have installed the metal roofing and the electrical is roughed in. The congregation is looking for volunteer help to complete the metal siding and then move to the inside to do the insulation, hanging drywall and taping. If you are interested in this opportunity to help a sister congregation realize their dream for a ministry and worship facility please call Norm Voth at 204-896-1616 to volunteer or assist with a cash donation. August 22, 2005 The building project in Cross Lake continues to progress slowly. Due to much rain and a shortage of some materials the roof sheathing is still not complete. Members of the congregation continue to work at what they can and volunteers are very much appreciated. The next stage is the installation of windows. doors, roofing and siding to get it closed to the weather. August 2, 2005 The rafters are up, but the roof is still not on. July 20, 2005 New pictures added to photo gallery... rafters to go up this afternoon. July 5, 2005 It's Begun! The new building for the Living Word Church in Cross Lake is underway. Volunteers from two MCM congregations and volunteers from Cross Lake put in the foundation and framed the crawl space pony walls last week. Volunteers from Cross Lake are completing the sub-floor this week. July 6 another team from the Winkler area leaves to help install the drain tile, frame the walls and build scaffolding for putting up the trusses. The congregation, and community, are excited to see the new building take shape. Many Cross Lake residents attended Sunday School at the Mennonite church in the past and the congregation looks forward to restarting that program once the new building is complete. The Living Word Church is also planning other ministries and services to the community as part of their witness as well. |
