This session focusses on pastoral leadership in times of change.  We will explore the role of storytelling as a tool for understanding congregational identity and working through change.  We will also focus on resistance; where it comes from, how it can be healthy, and how to help others who are stuck.

As preparation, all participants should read and bring copies of their congregation’s covenant, mission and vision statement, or other similar documents.  We encourage you to spend time thinking in advance of this session about what makes your congregation unique in terms of its specific purpose and role in the community and conference.  Also focus on the stories that your members tell about your church, and in particular focus on the stories that people tell about change (historical or present day).
